2. ‘More than football’ - Aston Pride Aston Pride is the 10-year regeneration program that was launched in 2001 to improve the local area. In 2003, Aston Pride was re-launched and re-energized with a new partnership team and since then the program has gone from strength to strength. Crime has fallen, the area is being made a more attractive place to visit, and local people are beginning to benefit from a wide range of schemes designed to improve their lives. The excursion to Aston Pride will begin with a lunch at the Aston Villa Football stadium and they go to Aston Hall, an historic Country House, where the old Tapestry is being renovated by Asian woman from the local community. Afterwards there will be a tour around the neighbourhood.
